Announcing a new collaboration between PaRx and Lime
In a first-of-its kind partnership between a nature prescription program and micromobility company, PaRx and Lime are joining forces to encourage Canadians to embrace the health benefits of nature in a fun and eco-friendly way.
Just in time for World Nature Conservation Day, this collaboration will provide up to 35% off trips with Lime e-bikes and e-scooters to users with a PaRx prescription, making it easier than ever to access outdoor spaces and enjoy the rejuvenating power of nature.
“Our patients and prescribers frequently identify lack of transportation as one of the biggest barriers to nature access,” says Dr. Melissa Lem, a family physician and Director of PaRx, a national initiative of the BC Parks Foundation. “Thankfully, companies like Lime make it easier to get to greenspaces, which both improves their health and inspires people to protect them. I can’t wait to see all the positive ripple effects our new collaboration will have for people and the planet.”
Elise Girardin, a Clinical Counsellor and PaRx prescriber in North Vancouver, BC, agrees: “Because we're surrounded by such breathtaking beauty, it can mislead folks to presume barriers don’t exist for our residents. But I've known many clients hindered by a lack of personal transportation, and I can’t wait to let them know about this partnership!"
"We're thrilled to partner with PaRx on this initiative," says Sonia Kandola of Lime. "By offering discounted access to our e-bikes and e-scooters, Lime is committed to enhancing city living through micromobility solutions that prioritize health, sustainability, and community well-being."
Studies indicate that access to micromobility reduces private vehicle use and supports connections to public transportation, reducing traffic congestion and air pollution.
This offer is available in cities across Canada where Lime operates. As the City of Vancouver prepares for Lime's launch later this summer, patients with a PaRx prescription in BC communities Kelowna, Coquitlam, the North Shore, and Richmond, as well as Edmonton, AB; Laval and Parc Jean Drapeau, QC; and Mississauga, ON, can take advantage of this offer today, hopping on sleek and easy-to-use Lime e-bikes and e-scooters already zipping through those cities.
PaRx encourages all riders to follow public health guidelines and local bylaws by wearing helmets and wrist guards, riding at safe speeds, signaling and using bells when appropriate, staying alert for road hazards, not riding under the influence, and using lights between sunset and sunrise.
PaRx, Canada’s national nature prescription program, has been connecting people to nature since 2020. A vast body of scientific research shows that regular doses of nature improve a wide range of health conditions, including high blood pressure, heart disease, lung disease, depression and anxiety. In children, outdoor time can improve immune function, eyesight, school performance and reduce symptoms of ADHD.
More than 14,000 healthcare professionals across Canada have registered to prescribe nature with PaRx, including 7% of all physicians in Canada.
Thanks to PaRx, nature is becoming the fourth pillar of health, just as important for staying healthy as diet, exercise and good sleep. By providing better access to nature through innovative collaborations with micromobility solutions like Lime, PaRx is revolutionizing how we think about and access good health and well-being.
Lime is proud to be a global leader in micromobility and one of the largest shared electric vehicle providers in Canada, operating in the country since 2018. Lime operates shared electric vehicle programs in Edmonton, Laval, Kelowna, Richmond, Coquitlam, Squamish Nation and the North Shore, recently adding Mississauga and Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal to the list. Just this month Lime was awarded the exclusive contract for Vancouver’s first-ever shared electric scooter program as well. Lime has powered over 550 million rides in more than 280 cities across five continents, and in its global experience, Canadian cities show particularly strong demand for micromobility and shared e-bikes and e-scooters.
